Oh! The Places You'll Go When You READ!
Welcome to Ms. Jackson's Learning Space!
Reading is a SKILLS based class.
In order to improve on skills, you have to practice. Practice, Practice, PRACTICE. :) |
Life is meant to be lived; cherish the exciting moments, and relish in those all too brief moments of relaxation. I am here to live my own life, and live it passionately.
Ms. Jackson's Learning Space serves as a vessel for students to engage in their learning and seek out additional learning opportunities outside of the classroom! So, sit back, relax, and read on. |
Summer Reading Project
Each summer, students are required to read a novel and complete a project that is counted as a grade. Each grade level has a recommended reading list that students can choose from, or they may choose any novel that is on or above their current reading levels. It is important that students continue to practice their reading skills over the summer to prevent regression in their academic performance. Research studies show that students who read 10-30 minutes a day over the summer make significant gains in the area of reading comprehension as well as add up to 1,000 new words to their vocabulary. Please encourage your student to read each day over the summer and have their summer reading project completed and ready to turn in on the first day of school, August 1st. The last day to turn in your Summer Reading Project with no penalty is August 9th!
